2008 Green Team Information below:

ROTHBURY is dedicated to producing as close to a zero-waste event as possible. This means that we have incorporated the highest standards of sustainability into every aspect of our production (i.e. our offices are green, we are using clean energy at the event, we have replaced disposables with compostables, and much more). For a better understanding of all that we are doing at the festival, as well as year round, please peruse Our Commitment.

Producing a near zero-waste concert is a challenging task, and ROTHBURY is the first to tackle a green program of this magnitude at an around-the-clock (camping) concert in the USA. But this of course presents us with the terrific opportunity to push the envelope, and go further than anyone has before. So, with a lot of planning, a deep commitment to our environment, and some passionate staff & partners (like YOU!), we are setting out to do it.

Volunteering for the Green Team is a real commitment. But it is incredibly rewarding work, and is a lot of fun too. Volunteering might be good for you if ALL of the following apply…

  • You are 18 or older
  • You are willing to work a 5-7 hour shift each day
  • You are excited to work with a team
  • You don’t mind getting your hands dirty
  • You are organized, responsible, trustworthy, and on time
  • You have a genuine interest in being a part of a green event, and healthier world

If all of the above applies to you, we’d love to consider you for our team. We have work exchange opportunities around the clock during the event, as well as during set-up & tear-down days.

You will be able to choose the days/shifts you desire once your form is accepted. At that time we will discuss with you the areas of help that are needed. A few examples of the kind of work we will have:

  • Pre-event set up: implementing systems, creating waste recovery stations, hanging signage, etc.
  • Manning waste stations, helping the public understand which items go in which cans & why (compost, recycling, trash)
  • Manning the Green education areas, running contests, working with the public
  • Collecting and transporting waste to our behind the scenes areas (with trucks, golf carts and the like)
  • Collecting trash on the grounds
  • Resorting recycling at our behind the scenes areas
  • Post-event tear down: removing systems, taking down signage, working with charities to divert waste into donations, etc.
